It's Independence Day

We headed to our local festivities here in Germantown to celebrate Independence Day.  Out of 6 years of living here, this is the first year we have gone to our local fireworks.  We have gone to DC (never ever again), Fairfax, Andrew's Airforce Base and Roanoke.  There is just something about staying local though.  I felt connected with everyone there, even though we didn't run into anyone we knew.

Andrew's parents joined us for an evening of Chinese food (I know, totally unpatriotic), music, fireworks  and traffic.

Oliver's always just along for the ride.

Madeline, on the other hand, could hardly wait for the Boom Booms.  She had been talking about them all week and was bouncing off the walls before we left.

I'm so disappointed that this picture is not clear because she is actually looking at the camera.  But, she kept getting closer and closer to the camera and I just couldn't focus fast enough.  Anyways, I gave her a huge hug, kiss and thank you for looking at my camera.  I just love that sweet face.

While we listened to music, the kids wrestled a little.  Madeline loves it when Oliver gets her.  She doesn't mind a little knee to the jugular.

Madeline danced and acted like a crazy girl.

I love that sweet face too!  It looks much different now though since Andrew shaved the goatee this morning.

Oliver spent the evening laughing...

Trying to chew on shoes...

Showing off his standing abilities (he's soooooo close to taking his first step)...

And yelling... a lot!
And then he got worn out.

And then it was time for the Boom Booms! ...
