Papa Paul

Madeline had some sweet time with her Papa Paul this past weekend. It is special to see Madeline loving her grandparents so much.

In and On

Madeline loves to sit in and on things that are just her size. Don't tell her, but she is getting a rocking chair from her Granny for her birthday that is just her size. I think she will really like it.

Daddy's Home!

As I have mentioned before, Madeline is a Daddy's girl. She gets so excited when she hears him open the front door. It doesn't matter what she is doing. She will drop it and run to the door to greet him. It is so sweet!

Laundry

Madeline has found a new spot to hang out while I am doing laundry. She likes to hold the Downy ball until I have to fill it up.

She likes to be right up in all the action. At least she found a spot to sit. It is a lot harder to get the laundry done while I am holding her.

Sleeping

I don't have very many pictures of Madeline sleeping. I'm always scared the sounds of the camera will wake her up. And who wants to wake a sleeping baby? Especially Madeline! She's pretty cranky if she doesn't get a good nap. But, the other night, while my parents were here visiting, Madeline was taking a very long 2nd nap and we were actually trying to wake her up. It was 6:30 and her bedtime is about 7:30 or 8:00. So, my mom and I both got our cameras out and took a bunch of pictures. Her room was lighting up like a thunderstorm and she didn't even stir. Her Granny and Pawpaw must have really worn her out.

I love checking on Madeline before I head to bead. Andrew and I usually go into her room together and look at her, make sure she's covered up and warm and then we look at each other with a, "she's so cute, I want to cry," look. Then we both quickly run out so if she wakes up, we can blame it on the last person out. :)

I think she really likes her bed. When she is really tired, she will point to her bed so we will lay her down. The past few days she has been waving bye-bye to me when I lay her down for her naps. She does a great job sleeping at home in her bed. We will see how all the holidays go since we will be out of town. It isn't quite as easy to fall asleep in a different place and a different bed.

Our Pet Fish

Madeline has come to love the fish in our house. She asks to see the "ffffsh" with her hand making the sign for fish about 500 times a day. And as soon as Andrew walks in the door, she says, "ffffsh" as loud as she can so he will take her up there.

After we look at the big tank, she says, "p, p, p" and points at the little salt water tank. That is where Spot (aka "p") lives. Spot is a Domino Damsel.

When she started learning how to say and sign "fish", she would get so excited when we would respond with, "you want to go see fish?". It was as if she had been waiting so long for us to figure out what she was trying to say and we finally got it!

A Visit from Granny B and Pawpaw

My mom flew up last Monday for a visit after one of her trips and my dad drove up Tuesday night to meet us. Madeline hadn't seen her Pawpaw in a long time. She was a little surprised to see him Wednesday morning. But, it didn't take too long for her to warm up to him and then they were good buddies until they left Thursday morning to go back home.

We did lots of fun things like playing outside, watching ducks, reading books, playing on the Aero Bed and building and knocking down towers.

Pawpaw and Andrew made lots of towers.

And of course, Madeline knocked them all over.

Madeline showed Granny and Pawpaw how she climbs on things so well. She also showed Granny how she climbs into her exersaucer (usually with both legs through one hole). She can also get out all by herself.

She got to read lots of book with Granny B. She could make the "moooo" sound for the cow and the "meow" for the cat. And she likes to sign lots of things in books like fish, train and hat.

Bathtime is much more fun with Granny and Pawpaw.

Madeline thought it was funny when Pawpaw pretended to drink her milk. Silly Pawpaw!

Thanks for coming to visit, Granny and Pawpaw. We had a great time! We will see you very soon for Thanksgiving.

Brinin' Back the 80's

My mom saw a baby on one her airplanes the other day that had some Babylegs on. (They are pretty much, leg warmers.) The mother really liked them because you don't have to take them off to change diapers and they come in a lot of fun colors and patterns. So, I found some Target brand ones and gave them a try. They have been nice on very cold days to put under Madeline's pants when we go outside. They are also nice because they aren't slippery on the bottom like tights.

But, I do have to say that they leave elastic marks around her legs (and she has pretty skinny legs). I don't know if the actual Babylegs brand are better or not. But really, she never seemed to mind. Now I'm not real sure how to do the sock and shoes thing with them. I'm just not very fashionable at all.

I do feel like I should get her a Mousercise video tape now so she can do her exercises with leg warmers on like I did when I was little. (Like I said, not very fashionable.)

How Madeline Plays Pool

Madeline loves to play with the balls on her Nana and Papa Pauls' pool table. She picks them up, bangs them together and puts them in the pockets. She wanted to throw them this past weekend. So, we had to work on playing with them gently. You can check out a video of her playing pool on the right.

The Cavanaughs

Last Sunday, we headed up to Baltimore to hang out with our friends, Ian and Kim. I feel like it has been forever since we have see them! We had a great time playing Mario Cart on the Wii.

Madeline just wandered around their house chasing the cats and checking out all the fall decorations.

We also ate some Chinese food and played a game of Settlers after Madeline went to sleep. We had a great time. And hopefully it won't be as long before we see them again.
